Hao Hao sorry to bother you again but Toyin, just posted up a spotted gar and I was thinking of picking it up. Can I ask are they aggressive? Would it be okay with my Pied Florida?
For the most part, they behave just like florida. Temperament is about the same (of course will vary with individual).

Thanks Hao Hao . By the way the Tropicals are doing well. Hopefully I'll have a chance to take some pics or vid of them to post here soon.

How are your gars doing. Mine died sadly. Broke his back while i was gone for vacations, the same time at which my oscars died. Poor thing must have jumped due to high nitrate levels caused by overfeeding. Couldn't recover. He even started taking pellets.

I also bought 2 of the tropicals from predatory fins and had a hard time getting them to eat initially. When they showed up they were wayy smaller than I was expecting. Once I got them eating bloodworms they took to the pellets pretty quickly, but mine have been super slow growers compared to the Cubans or long nose I’ve raised. What’s the growth rate been like for you koltsixx?

Sorry for the late reply HPIZZLE HPIZZLE , I haven't been very active lately. Mine originally didn't take to the pellets but are reliably taking them for a while now. One is growing slowly the other was as well but recently caught a growth spurt as he's the more aggressive eater. Since the spurt the larger Tropical has caught up to my 2 Cubans and is maybe a 1/4 inch shorter than them. The Cubans are far more aggressive feeding wise than my Tropicals though given to even jumping to try and grab the pellets.
