You should be able to tell when they are around 3". Sometimes even smaller. Females have a black spot in the middle of there dorsel fin. Males do not.
Can't wait to see the pics. I sold mine to a friend and it turned into a straight beast. I'm selling off most of my fish to get a trimac from rapps whose been selling some awesome specimans lately. U can get away with 2 in a 75 for a while but they are hard on each other if u have male and female

you can't go wrong with a M of F.mine is 9 inches now.maybe i was lucky in guessing,but as i watched the tank of 8 fish,this 3 incher was obviously male to me
They told me they had a few of the same batch and is going to get me the largest and confirm male. They breed them on the farm themselves and very reliable.

Whats nice about pure Trimaculatus is the dorsal is a very good indicator of the sex. Its not 100% but its close. If it has a dorsal flower then its more than likely a female.
Contacted jeff and going to get a female from him and breed with the male I'm getting from floridatropics....can't wait to get them together and hopefully pair them off. Will get pics up when they arrive.

i love my trimac, most personable fish in my collection so far. 75 is a bit small though they get big
