I've known a bunch of people that kept angels with goldfish and most big chain petstores keep the fancy goldfish at the same temp as everything else. I think mixing them is also discouraged because goldfish are so messy but if you are fastidious with wc's then its not really an issue.

That is another myth. Although goldfish are messy, they are not any messier per weight than any other fish. The same weight of cichlids or even tetras would produce just as much waste.
My Comets do great in my pond all year. In winter the pond is in the 50's. In summer it's from 70-80.
I have two adult fantails iwith a hope to breed adult pair of pseudacanthicas L-600/l-114 plecos also a female bn pleco all in an 85 th fore temp is 82 degrees all the fish eat is NLS weekly wc's and the tank has 2 aquaclear 110's on it. This has been set this way for four years without one single promblem and all fish are very colorful active and disease free. Also they completely ignore the other species. So I completlly agrre with reptileguy 727!
