Sounds interesting. I have family that live/fish on the Russian, I'll ask.
Your friends on the Russian river have almost definitely caught/seen tule perch. However, I can not vouch for the starry flounder living there. Tule perch are very common on the Russian river. My thoughts are that they would make good aquarium mates (I've never kept them). But they don't appear to be very skittish in their natural state, that is usually a good sign of domestic adaptability.

Oddball, I don't want the Tule perch thread to go off on a tangent, but I for one would love to know more about those starry founder? anyone kept them? how do they take to freshwater?

They collect by permit so it is legal. also It is from Oregon.

In california you can catch saltwater fish for aquariums... If you want to spend $1,000 on a permit for each year. If it didn't cost so much I would have all of these by now.

Some acclimation required... those are caught in saltwater.

I like this site a lot. They sell shiner perch, which are a saltwater relative of the tule perch.
