An obligatory yearly update. Nothing much to add in words other than they are still the same bottomless pits and pigs, if there ever were ones, and they got upgraded to the 25,000 gal:

Two year update. The pair has been doing well in the 25K. I estimate they are 30"-32" now. Ultimate feeding machines. It seems their circumference rivals their length. Hard to take good pics of them in the large dark pond with glare off the front glass facing outdoors, so some poor ones:

Yup. Looking from above, the dorsal view, they are about a foot thick. It's shocking.

My 3 are just 4”, still with the pink and black tail and stripe but they are already eating like pigs. I am sure if I carried on feeding they would not stop until they just went pop.
I bought my 3 at about 3" apiece. All cute and little. I must admit I didn't really research them properly. The biggest is nudging 15" now, the other two maybe 12-13". I think the big one may be female.

They're becoming a bit of a worry, especially looking at thebiggerthebetter thebiggerthebetter monsters, gulp!

What size tank have you got your 3 in? Mine are in a 360g com tank, and it's getting a bit full, lol. I'd off load mine FOC, and i'd deliver, if I knew they were going to a suitable home.

One of the champion overzealous feeding machines, on par with D. lusosso, has died. One of the cigar sharks. I believe from overfeeding. These fish have to be kept solo or in a setting where their feed intake can be controlled, which is impossible in the communities we ever kept them in.

It is the one of two that had a large black bulge (fat sack / blowout?) above its left eye for the last year. The other cigar shark is ok for now.

28 inches / 70 cm, 20 lbs / 9 kg, 8 years old:
