Two vittatus African tigerfish, ~16", in 4500 gal

Personality of the fish depends on each fish really, but yes there are two distinct gatf sp that they import here. The difference is hardly noticeable but one sp seems to grow at double the pace and has a broader body esp as they get over a foot long.

Very nice. I think your vatf are from the same batch as mine as I got mine from Wes 9/15.

Must be! How are yours doing? How big are they now? Do you have a thread on them by chance?

I just bought one and he is doing well. He is currently about 19". I made a thread when I first got him titled "new vatf" and I update it from time to time.

Nice. Yours must be doing better. I think 16" eyeball estimate for mine could be generous by 1"-2". Also, they appear to haven't grown any in the last 6 months or so. Stuck.

Perhaps being that there are two of mine, they expends too much energy on enforcing pecking order and chasing versus yours being solo.

I love meaningful side-by-side comparisons. So informative. Thanks, bro!

Yours may not be as big but they have to compete with all kinds of monsters in there. They look good though. Mine has definitely slowed down a lot. Hoping to squeeze 24" out of him but that's going to be awhile :)

Here are the two VATF that I got from Wes about a 1-1.5 years after the original 5. They have done well in a 240 gal up to ~4"-5" but then one started dominating the other too much. They might have damaged each other's left eye or it came from tank mates, IDK. When I saw that, I separated them into two 240 gal.

Here they are with their tank mates in two 240 gal:
