Ah, IMO diet does very little for fishes colour.

Diet plays a major role in a fishes color, just as water quality, overall stress levels, etc. Feed that same umbee some lower quality trout chow & you would see a decline in color within a very short timeframe. Northfin is a quality food which is certainly part of the reason why your fish shows very good color.
