I am going to be moving my 55 and 75 into my garage ( and hopefully getting a few bigger aquariums :) ) The closest water source is a spigot by the garage. Is it safe to use a garden hose to fill my aquariums? Because garden hose water always has a certain smell I didnt know if the hose put somthing in the water that may be bad for my fish.

as long as you use dechlorinator i dont see a problem...

if you're concerned, get a test kit and test the water straight out of the faucet, see what that shows you and move on from there. I've used garden hoses to fill tanks before, just be sure to heat the water up before putting fish in there, don't want them to go into shock and die!

Yeah I have used it many times untill the threaded end came off of my sink faucet.Like someone already said you have to watch your temperature and chlorine.

I always avoided it as I was told it transfers lead or something. But I really dont see how harmful it could be. If I were to do it over again I would. I use a python now.

ive been using a garden hose for my 250g for 2 years, and recently bought a garden hose to use exclusively for draining and filling tanks.

have had no problems at all so far, and all fish seem to dislike having their water changed just as much from the hose, as if i was running a bucket brigade. nothing seems different about using the hose :)

Most dechlorinators if not all also break down heavy metals etc in the water.

I've used a garden hose for years and I've never had any issues. I just let it run for a few minutes before filling the tanks to remove any possible lead contents in the hose.
