I adopted a little 3" jag about a week ago. He was beat up pretty bad. Inamed him Hamburger, you'll see why in the pic's. He's almost healed up now but I don't have any new pic's yet. He just started eating a few days ago and today I had to egg crate him from my 2 baby oscars cause he decided to kick the crap out of them. Their all in a 20gal QT tank now. I have new tanks coming in the next few days. The tank is clean but the outside glass isn't

I need to start researching these guys but in the mean time I have a few questions:
1. How fast do they grow?
2. What about tank makes?
3. Anything else you think I should know.

They are fairly moderate growers, I picked mine up at 1" about 5 months ago he is now 6". Not as fast as O's. I have mine in with O's and LMB also large Silver dollars and Leporinus. What beat it so bad? you might want to pick a large goldfish for him to regain his confidence.

about 20 flowerhorns, in the same size range, and a heater. He's regained his confidence this morning on my 2-3" baby Oscars. Maybe in a week or two I'll throw him in with the bigger O's. As long as he doesn't fit in there mouths they wont mess with him.

What happened to your jumbo male and your female that looked Identical to mine?

If size does matter I got pics of about 2000+ fry at about 1/4". As well as vids.
i've mega downsized my collection as of late, a buddy of mine LOVED the pair and had a very adequate home for them, so off they went. little did i know 4 of there fry were still swimming from there last spawn, and are now growing rapidly.

He went nuts when he saw how crazed my pair got when he came close to the tank after a spawn, and i could have used a change of scenery in that tank.

great jaguars guys keep on posting!
