Ummm....sort of. Cooters have a mainly vegetarian diet as adults. So do most adult basking turtle species for that matter. Tortoises even though they're not turtles, eat almost exclusively plant material. What's the problem with feeding a turtle meaty foods?

But also keep in mind that these are a tropical species that grows very large, needs huge tanks and is kind of expencive(200 dolars for a baby)200$ for a baby?!?!?!?! wow! i have discovered with this animal hobby you can pay alot for them. my wife would kill me if i spent that on any animal, other then a chocolate lab for her lol.
Vicious - I was just looking for a turtle to keep with my fish with out any worries, but after all my reading yesterday it sounds like i wont risk my fish to be with a turtle. i just really want something cool to be with my fish. add some more excitement ya know. any ideas?

How big of an aquarium do you have? Fly River Turtles are rare and very expensive but some people on here have them and keep them with their fish. At the moment I have 2 Stinkpot Musk Turtles that I keep with fish without any issues at all. In most cases, turtles kept with fish usually end up snacking on the fish. But sometimes there are exceptions. They key to keeping the two together has to do with the species, the space available and keeping your turtle well fed.
