Very Rare Plecos

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My weakness are the B&W stripey plecos. I started with zebras. I found oyt not only did BN like my water, but the Rio Xingu fish loved it. I parlayed zebras into L173b and L450. From there I got L236 from the Budrovcan line. They were followed by a group of TR L173. And then came another group of of TR 236 shortly followed by group of WC L173. The next to last group I acquired were a group of super white L236. They are close to spawning. The final fish I added was a group of 25 zebras almost a years ago.

Along the way I let go all of my L173b and L450.

Now for the best part. Every pleco species or L-number I have ever kept has spawned in my tanks. They love my well water. So do a number of other fish who favor softer water and a pH in the neutral range. Every group of Hypancistrus I have is currently spawning (that is, on eggs/wigglers or had recently free swimming fry).

I work with a person who sells some of my plecos. He gets in a lot of neat stuff. He is also where I got my super whites.

Zebras are still my fav. Their colors are always nice. The l236 SW are nice. But not all have that intense white like zebras so it can be hit or miss. Especially paying so much for it. The l173 are nice when young but as they get older their patterns change and it don't look as nice imo. U have to fork out a lot of money for some quality l235l6 sw and l173
