hi everyone.
I'm interested in Fenestratus behaviour.
If you can suggest me any advice to breed and keept this wonderful cichlid,I'll be glad.

they are aggressive, very responsive, always on the move.I have three and i love them. They are around 5 inches now(they were 1 inch when i got them from rapps).A good diet is all it took for mine to breed, and they bred in an over stocked tank.

I guessed Fenestratus was the mildest of Vieja's.
I would like to put a pair (7.5 inches) in a 65 g (47 inches long),alone.

What is the correct temperature and diet?

thanks

there aggression can varie

they will need a bigger tank they get around 16'' females a little smaller

they will do we'll on a good pellet and the normal foods for cichlids but also need some veggies in there diet to really thrive

If you are looking for a nice vieja that is not too aggressive see if you can get V. heterospilus. They are not much to look at when young but they have TONS of color as adults.

Agreed that they'll need a bigger tank, I'd be looking at a 4x2x2' 125 preferably.

i agree with japes, and i personally think that a large male fene is one the best looking in the vieja genus!

I was under the impression that fenestratus was actually one of the more aggressive of the vieja/paratheraps group. I was also not aware that they grew up to 16"...I've always heard 10-12". now synspilum, bifasciatus, black belt grow larger up to the 14-16" range. I'm not saying fene's can't grow larger, but from everything I've read on them they don't grow as large as the others.

:)

I guess no one between Maculicauda,Argentea,Synspila and Fenestrata could stay in my 65 g net..am I right??
if not what could I add?
