I beening looking to ad 2 vortech mp's to my tank. it is 5x3x30" (Length x Width x Height) central overflow. which one yall suggest? mp10 or mp40? Thank You in advance

Mp40 but that is a serious powerhead massive flow I don’t think you would need 2 in a tank that size freshwater, if your looking to clear dead spot have you considered the maxspext gyre pump

needing something for water movement from between the bottom and middle of the tank. not to much power but enuff to move the water. i have plenty of movement on top.

I have a tank similar size to yours but 6’ long I use a 1,800gph powerhead and a 3,500(?)gph return pump and there’s plenty of movements. I would consider the maxspect vs 2 mp40.

Bump who’s running these pumps and how do you like them. I’m considering getting a mp40 for my 3/4” acrylic tank. Will this hold up?

I’ve had them in the past, not currently.
They work well and generate a lot of flow.

My opinion, they are over priced. There are cheaper ways to add flow to a tank.

But, when I had them I had no problems. were quite and dependable.

How thick was the glass? I have used other dc wave makers and had them only last a year. Why did you end up replacing them. I read a few reviews that said the older mp40s would sometimes drop the wet side. Just looking for a reliable option and like how clean the vortec pumps for that reason.

Glass was 5/8 . I used them for a reef tank and when I switched back to fresh I sold off a lot of stuff.
If pricing is okay for you then they are a quality option.
I liked them while I used them.
Just wouldn’t purchase again for myself, other option available now.
When I had them there wasn’t much to choose from in the way of a propeller type powerhead.
