Walmart's Pool

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I looked into this a good bit actually, and something you need to be aware of is that some of the liners used in those pools are made to deal with a pool pH of 7.0-7.6, which isn't a big deal if you're keeping fish at that pH. Lower pH can shorten the life of the liner. Also, some of the liners are impregnated with chemicals to kill bacteria and aid in pool water chemistry, which are usually the opposite of what we fishkeepers are trying to achieve. I read that you could use heavy baths of potassium permanganate for a year without fish to eliminate the chemicals.

Point is, call the manufacturer, and find out what's in the liner before you buy it! I don't know about specifically asking if you can keep fish in their liner. They'd likely say no.

there is someone on the forum that uses one of those inflatable pools. My only problem is unless you're getting alot of angel fish that pool is overkill for everything but the id sharks. I'd rather see you buy like a 300g tank and grow the id sharks out and by that time work out a scheme to build a tank.

Someone told me pool liners are coated with algie killer or insecticide. Or is this LFS wanting me to buy there pond liners ?

Many liners do have chemicals inpregnated into the coating. Your LFS is not just trying to get your money.

I dont know how to setup an above ground pool using plywood and liner. I think you need to calculate the strength of the plywood or something (i dont know the calculation).

1 Gallon of water = 10 pounds.. 1000 Gallon = 10,000 pounds..i cant imagine what would happen if the plywood give way... a mini scale of tsunami?
I dont mean to be a know-it-all but its 8.33:D

go for it do it do it do it
