Congratzz! :0

Thank you. I have had several opportunities to own them but did not get one because everyone was saying it was illegal. I guess now I know better and that you shouldn't believe everything you hear and go do your own research lol. :)

These are the best pics I could get with my phone.

My guy is from wes's first batch of wells so its around 6-8 months for a 7"-16-18" growth rate. Honestly i think hes growing pretty slow. My reg wells grew from 3-4" to 12-14" in 2-3 months. Sadly i lost them due to cannibolism and when i upgraded my last one to a larger tank.

This seems like a very fast growth rate compared to what I have read in scientific studies. What temps were you keeping them at?

Hopefully your fish keeping is better than your photography :irked:

lol, did you read the whole thread? Best I could do with a 2mp cam on my crap pay as you go phone lol. So in all honesty I'd like to see a much better pic taken in the same low light conditions with a 2mp cam while holding a tank light in your other hand cause the phone got no flash!!! lol

Welcome to the club :headbang2

Well at least my ex didn't get a chance to kill one of these also lol. So probably better that I waited.

I read every word! It's better to put your money into the fish than the camera. Thats the monster fish keeping way! :)

A note on this species being housed with doradids, and other aggressive large catfish also. It seems that this fish senses that the doradids are of no threat and simply leave them alone.

Another note. Look at this one and others and you will notice the underbite actually extends to where there is a gap between the upper and lower jaws where the teeth meet. This is interesting because he doesn't open his mouth to breath. Instead he pushes his tongue against the gap while his mouth is close and when he pulls it away from the gap it sucks water in over his gills. Most catfish have to gasp when breathing semi hard. This one does not. It is very interesting. That massive lower jaw looks very bulldog like intimidating. I wonder if anyone has ever measured the bite force of one of these lol. Gives me an idea for the future. I sure wouldn't want to noodle one of these bad boys. Those teeth although viliform look like they would lay some serious damage.
