So since elodea is a free floating plant and doesnt need to be rooted i will have both that and some bamboo that is halfway submerged. What do you guys think? I just got bioballs and a timer for my light today. Now all I need to do is finish gluing my baffles in and then get my overflow bow and pvc and im set. Deadline is Dec 14th to have my tank start cycling by then.
I picked up a PF-1000 today as my overflow box.
So far ive spent,
20$ on acrylic,
25$ in bioballs,
30$ for a 20L,
14$ for eggcrate,
5-10$ on DAP silicone,
= 94-99$ overall on the sump.
70$ for my overflow, and I got a pondmaster rated for 700gph for free from a friend. I just need pvc and it will be complete.
Sand and Driftwood to come later.

So I decided that my pump was rated to high and would empty my tank and burn up too quick. So im going to make a DIY auto top off and go with a simplistic design for now since my stand will not allow me to make any changes once the tank on top is filled unless i drain the 65 gallon tank so i can get to my sump. the only access to the sump would be through the top of the stand without the tank on it.
I got talked into going with a soft line instead of pvc to prevent cracking. I should have it done within a few weeks. Im going to do my filterbox tomorrow with the numerous types of filtration and will post pictures after I do it.
As long as your overflow/pvc flows more than your pump, you should be fine.

No i think that sounds right. I will adjust my overflow to where it will flow around 400gph. Cause I think its rated for a max of 900gph
My return pump is rated for 700 but when its being pumped 5' then it gets down to about 360-460 I believe.
I made a drip tray out of a baffle. since i cut down my design by a few baffles.
I doubled up my matting.
Fitted it in nice and snug
