Just wondering if there are any good books on centrals? I know books are inherently outdated because information is constantly changing, but I'm just looking for something with some nice pictures and basic information.

I have an Aqualog book on puffers. Its great for IDs, but doesnt have that much info wise. Still a nice book though... their cichlid addtions are probably just as nice.

honestly if you are looking for quality information then instead of purchasing books, I'd pay for a subscription to a site like www.cichlidae.com. This is Juan Miguel's site and is constantly updated (unlike a book) with new taxanomic information, excellent pictures, articles, profiles etc. :)

Thanks for the link, I have seen that website before but never took the plunge to actually subscribe.

I would like a non-electronic ;) source of information, occasionally throughout my week I find myself in situations where I cannot access the Internet (shocking, right?). It does not have to be amazing or anything.

You could always print out some of the articles so that you can read them when you're not at your computer. :)

Haha, touché. I will likely subscribe. I will check out those books modest man, thank you for the suggestion!

Sometimes I just like the feeling of holding/reading a book over other stuff, ya know?

I'm with you there. There has to be some decent books on the subject.

Yeah I know for ceratain what you mean. Im a book nut, I just came home to my newley purchased book on the colection of Bob Haags meteorites, basically the rock star of the meteorite world after Nininger died and this book is autographed by him. I may sleep with it lmao.

However I am certainly going to check out that website listed. Ive got the old Axelrods complete lexicon of cichlids as well, also autographed by Axelrod, but the binding is shredded, I may take it to a library to see if they know how I can get it repaired.

I'm with you, there is something about an actual book that just feels right.

The only book I own that is only about CAs is The Guide to Central American Cichlids by Richard Stratton. It isn't anything super-special, but I enjoy reading it.
