What are you cooking today.

10 hours for the pulled pork. 1 hour to carmelize the onions. Both sit on a garlic butter toasted bun. Only thing missing was Monterey Jack cheese. Settled for cheddar.

I hate when pulled pork is very sweet or loaded with bbq sauce. Pork fat has so many flavours as is. No need to ruin it with pounds of bbq sauce.

These are great when I don't feel like doing too much and want something quick.

I wanted to make a recipe I saw on Pinterest but I didn’t have the strawberry jam that the recipe called for. And I had no desire to go to the store.
I was pretty disappointed till I remembered I had rhubarb and that goes great with strawberry!
So I made a small batch of jam:)

It was a little thick since I was a tad sloppy with cutting my original recipe down. But that’s ok. I don’t think runny jam would have worked as well.

Chopped up strawberry berries(frozen). Next time I’d want to use fresh.
And here they are all golden warm from the oven. F694EF67-C747-4FB3-BAB5-FC2296945CE5.jpeg
Now covered with a simple glaze. A90867DB-76D6-4E70-941F-1442DDD1198F.jpeg
What I made is nothing like the original recipe. Theirs was strawberry cinnamon rolls. I made strawberry & rhubarb rolls?

those look really tasty

So my bf made a wood fire pizza oven from an old drum....didn’t turn out too bad, and the pizza tasted just like restaurant pizza

I've been tempted to buy one of these but am worried it will tak so long to get the oven hot and make the pizza that I will only ever use it once. How long was it from starting the process until food on the table?
Took about 1-1.5 hours for the oven to get up to temperature, and then the pizza cooked for two minutes.

Also this was a totally Diy oven. A store bought one might heat up quicker? This one was made from an Old drum he cut in half, lined it with blanket, cemented around the open seals to cover exposed blanket, and fire bricks. it was difficult to find the food grade materials in Canada. Might be cheaper to just buy a pizza oven

my bf also made pizza dough from scratch so that was its own process, you can cheat and buy pre made dough.

I'd probably buy a small one if I went for it, I just worry it would be a novelty for one or two times then it would Be back to the deliveries from the shop.
I must say the pizza you made looks good though, there would be less regret and upset stomach after eating them than the grease bombs from the local joint.

DIY Pizza is the bomb, we often do it in the oven, or if we are feeling fancy we throw it on the braai (barbie for you uncultured people :p ). We have a mini oven that heats up over coals, like this:
