My co-worker is 1st generation Irish and we were talking about the whole corned beef and cabbage thing on St Paddy's day just yesterday. Apparently, this is totally an American thing, because her parents never did the corned beef and cabbage thing back in Ireland. They do what's called "boiled bacon". She explained that its not the bacon that we're familiar with, but it is fatty.....and she doesn't like it at all.

Ironically, my wife is half Irish and have never made CBnC on St Paddy's :(..........she leans more towards her Italian heritage, even though she looks like an Irish lassie
 
I hate corned beef, so, never happens here.
Pops, you have the palate of an 8 year old....you don't like a whole lot of food LOL
 
I love CBnC and realize it's not the healthiest dish to eat so I pretty much only have around this time of year.
 
the smell of cabbage cooking like to make me puke. seems to me, potatoes and bacon as mentioned more cultural,

Yes , yes i do, tho i do not find many 8 year olds smoking beef or what ever for 4 to 8 hours.
