Hello; Finally got around to a serious listen of a CD I picker up a couple of weeks ago. Etta James - mystery lady songs of Billie Holliday. It was released in 1994. God versions of some standards. The more i listen the better i like it. Good strong voice with interesting inflections.

Hello; If you like female jazz singers give Diane Schuur a listen. I have seven of her CD's. Timeless may be a good one to start on.

One of the best female voices, to me, was Eva Cassidy. She did not make many recordings tho. Her version of Over the Rainbow is among my favorites.
