i recently netted 3 baby pickerel down in north carolina. feeder guppies r the way to go. provide plenty of driftwood and cover in the tank and a sandy bottom. dont use gravel. they will hurt their selves darting at prey. Just be patient for a couple weeks. They r shy fish and the moor people stare at them in a tank the moor stressed they get. they like a black water set up. Thats the key to success with ur pickerel.

Feeder guppies will work,as will any small wild caught minnows. You might be able to get them to take worms if you hold them at the surface. They are not as shy as most people think. Especially if kept with other fish. They like lots of vegetation. They will also eat mosquito larva and other aquatic insects, small crayfish, shrimp, tadpoles and I have even seen small ones eat snails. Also make sure you have all openings covered as they will jump out.
