what filter to buy for 125 gallon goldfish tank?

You need to test your water parameters: ammonia, nitrite and nitrates as gold fish are filthy creatures and you are probably under filtered. I would buy 2 Sunsun/Perfect HW-404b canister filters from ebay as they have UV built in. Get about 8 liters of seachem matrix for them. Let us know those parameters though.

So a good chance that is has not been properly cycled. What are the water parameters? What did you do in order to cycle the tank? You can add more filters, though they will not be cycled and are not going to immediately help your problem. I myself don't believe that your current stock is too much for a pair of AC110s to handle. This is dependent on whether or not they are cycled, properly set up, and maintained.

With fish in it? I know stupid question but some people get the impression that if you run the filters with no fish it cycles the tank which isn't true

I was using 2 marineland 350 power filters on this tank for 6 months with no substrate on the tank bottom for a 4" arowana
Didn't have the cloudy water at that time
2 months ago, I decided to move 4 goldfish into the 125 gallon tank and was still using the 2 Marineland 350 power filters. Water was clear so after a couple of days, I moved the other 4 into this tank. I then added the 4 large triple flow box filters to give the goldfish more circulation and have the box filters help trap the waste.
Then, the water started to get cloudy on the 2nd or 3rd day.
I did 30% water changes twice a week to cut down on the cloudiness and the green water
1 month ago, I bought 2 AC 110 power filters hoping that these stronger filters would make a difference.
I still do water changes twice a week.

I am giveing 2 thumb way up for lipadj46 the sun sun or odessy canister filters are cheap and if you get 2 you will be good to go they do have uv built in there
very good for the price.
