What is the difference of Longnose,Florida and spotted Gar.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok thanks
Lot of bad info here, with proper care all gar species can exceed 20 yrs of age.

All gars can get to 3 feet or more with alligator and long nose capable of breaking 6 feet long.

It can be difficult to tell the difference between spotted and Florida gars when juvenile, but as they age Florida gars have more of a brown/bronze mottled color, while spotted gars are Greyson with more rounded pattern.

Florida gar have sort of triangular dark markings that are more distinct than spotteds on the upper part of their jaws/snout.
