what kind of yellow peacock is this

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the two females look like they are different types from each other. If it is a maralei Island sunshine I cannot remember what the females looks like, but the Benga females look like the dark one, not the light one... of course other peacock types have dark females as well, and yet others have light ones. So tough to say.

The male looks like a sunshine Peacock aka Maleri, aka Benga yellow. The second, third pics are quite off. The second fish seems to me to be a subdominant male with the slight blue shine coming off him. The second and third pics are not the same species count the stripes and the count is different. These fish will breed in the setup you have pictured however I wouldn't do it as the offspring will probably be hybrids if the parents arent allready if you say they came out of the breeder tank at a LFS then I wouldnt buy any more fish there as they are probably adding whatever females they can get to try and bring up numbers of offspring for a profit. This is the problem with peacocks and alot of the other fishes from Malawi is the ease with which they hybridize and the way first generation hybrids tend to look like one or the other parent not easy to ID properly.
