I have a rio 2500 and a rio 3100. They are about 8 years old. They still push water well, but they are starting to hum. I think I'm going to replace them because the noise is annoying, but they ran quiet for many years and have been solid, reliable pumps. Rio is the only submersible I've ever owned, so I can't comment on other brands.

I have a rio 2100 that has been running with no problems for 6 years. I also recently bought a HF20 and this pump is great for the price and has a good flow rate. But I don't have any comparisons as I have not owned any other submersible pumps.

I don't know much about Mags but Rio HF's pump fantastic amounts of water for the amount of power they consume.
Rio's are great quality and have very low power consumption which is what you should compare together with price.
