in a house
My gf has a 30gallon long in her room that I gave her with 3 ac filters on it ( each is built for a 45 gallon) She really wants a fahka but I dont feel like going to her house and doing w/c every day for her, than When it gets bigger I'll have to put him in my 120gallon. What would be a good starting puffer?

The south american puffer is probably a decent starter puffer. It's the first one I kept. It's very active and won't stop drawing attention to itself, making it ideal for someone who hasn't kept puffers before.

Try this freshwater puffer it may be a little too small for a 120 but it can stay in her 30 long for LIFE ! It swims a lot, has a good and mean personality and it looks like a freshwater triggerfish, A.modestus, or Bronze or Avocado puffer,

If you bought one that was about 3-4" you could prob keep him in that for about 6mths til he got 6" or so, by then she will have completely fallen in love with it and will get whatever size tank just to make sure he's happy! i've seen mbu's kept with things as small as zebra danio's in 2ft cubes at 6" that are perfectly happy as they just ignore anything other than themselves. some people see to think they are nasty but i've never seen one even acknowledge another fish is alive let alone show some interest in it! they just love themselves and their owners and spend most of the day dancing up and down the front of the tank staring at their own reflection.
