Oh I was just at pet....bigboxstore yesterday they had little itty bitty sens maybe 8-10 a few albino all covered in what appeared to be ich. As did the fish in the "tank" next to it, I think those were tetras. I've heard people say polys don't usually get ich but I think they can and do.So yeah id treat as it was ich and if its not and some other parasite it my help that too. there is a sticky on poly meds I believe.

They can get ich, their scales just often protect them from a lot of stuff

Do you have any friends with tanks that you can borrow media from to keep your QT cycled? The Moke is WC so might be less tolerant to ammonia and nitrites.

I'm not sure what to recommend when you're medicating for water changes. But what if you did 5 gallons daily vs 9 gallons every other? (With meds I don't know if that's ok or not...)

How is the big tank going numbers-wise, and are you rehoming the parrots?

I know I'm desperate for you to get the big tank stable and the polys in it, and for everything to settle down for you.

For now it sounds like ich. Keep the salt and up ur temp to 89 degrees. About a degree per hour and keep like this for 2 weeks. It'll clear it with time.

Suggest adding the salt at 1tsp per gallon. If not better than up to 3tsp per gallon. The thing with ich is to be patient.

I suggest a wc every 3 days at 50 %. Then add back the salt taken out. So if 100g then 100tsp total. Then with a 50% add back 50tsp.

MB and parapgaurd are safe for polys. But will kill ur BB and mess up ur water parameters. So keep an eye out.

For the ich...salt and heat will clear it. Be patient

I did a 75% dose of paragaurd in the QT. watching for signs of stress. :( But then after an hour took some water out and replaced it cause I wasn't sure if I should have done a 1/2 dose and the delhezi was acting stressed..

Probably will start doing WC every day on the QT, instead of every other. Speaking of the QT, everybody's patterns and colors are coming in nice. ugh why is there ick. Probably from the ammonia, getting up to 0.25?

In happier news, my halfmoon betta and my saltwater Fire shrimp are doing very well. How can I keep a sensitive invertebrate alive, but be having all these other problems lol.o_O smh. That learning curve.

I'm betting that the ammonia caused the ich from stress.

Not having established tanks certainly makes things more challenging.

kno4te kno4te - 89? That is so high! I've heard 86... are you sure 89 is OK? (And can her heater even handle it?)
