You can call me judgemental and elitist as much as you like,pal.My view on this won't change.
I never said all cichlids will do well in the confines of a tank with a mate.I am saying if the cichlid has to to be kept in solitary confinement for life due to tank restrictions or its aggressive tendencies,then choose another species.
This is my view on it,my opinion that's all.I am not trying to be elitist, I'm just sharing my opinion.Not sure why that ruffles your feathers so much but it obviously does.
You obviously don't have a problem keeping a fish alone for life,Good for you.I on the other hand do.To me it does not seem like much of a life for the fish.Never being able to mate or experience anything other than its keeper dropping in food.Regardless of its habits in the wild.This to me is not much of an existance.

I'm not attempting to change your view, I was simply demonstrating how overly simplistic it is. I didn't set out to keep a 6 inch fish solo in a 6ft tank, but sometimes sheet happens and you just have to roll with it. That, or go find a hammer .....

My overly simplistic view was never aimed at you.It was aimed at the op,who was being advised to keep a solo green terror in a 55 gallon tank.

They also didn't ask for anything beyond the min tank size required to keep a single GT, not whether anyone agreed in principal with their choice to do so.
Either way, I'm guessing as far as the OP is concerned that train left the station a long time ago.
