55G is way to small for a retro. I seen 14" retro. 55g HAVE 13" width.

Just go for captive bad gene sene which are commonly available or a moke.

With that set up you can add a sen but you'll lose a couple giant danios if it can get a hold of them. I'd be more worried about your plecos eating it's slime coat.
Maybe tape a picture of a sen to your tank?

I think you will be fine with the plecos and a bichir.
I keep seeing people say plecos will suck on bichirs so I searched it on the site and all it comes up with is the same people saying it will happen and the same people telling them to feed their plecos.
I'd go with a sene, delhezi or a palmas polli but there are others too.

i haven't had my sens with any plecos but the stories are true for the syno cats eatting the slime coat and my old pleco went for my gars slime coat so i could see it happening...sens would be a good choice...

I have an 8" sen and a 7" ornate in my 75 with a pair of green terrors and the terrors pay no attention to them at all...

Id definitely say goodbye to the GIANT danios, certainly not giant in the eyes of a bichir and if you can help it dont keep plecs with them, you may be fine for a while but why risk it?

Cheers steve
