What's up with all these feeding mice threads?

I've been flamed many a time for suggesting live foods on here... not sure how "I" would ever keep half the fish I do w/out them... but feeding mammalian meat isn't healthy as a regular part of a fishes diet.. there are plenty of scientific studies to back this up. It has nothing to do with Morality... but about quality of the foods given that are live. In the US this is very hard to come by which is why a majority of live advocators "shut-up" and don't talk about it because they often breed/raise their own and do their due dilligences...

Like I stated I think pretty plainly... going to the LFS buying a bag of goldfish and dumping it into your fish tank is bad husbandry. Maybe its because I've worked in the LPS industry for many years.. I don't have any pre-conceived notions of how "healthy" animals really are the a LPS in the US.

If someone can prove that feeding mammalian meat to my fish is healthy I'll do it. Until then I'm going to listen to the experts/scientific research that says not too.

and soon hock I stood up to you for attacking another member here.... because he was very polite and clear in his opinion and you where verbally abusive. IDC if your original comment was directed at me. those darn estrogen hormones kicking in.

If the goldfish are qaurentined before being feed shouldn't be a problem I've seen plenty of members who breed cons for feeders.

Mmmm interesting arguments. I fed my piranhas a few mice but only was alive and ill admit it was to make a show for everyone over for Christmas. I can say that only a few of my boy cousins actually found it "cool" and everyone else looked away right away.

I wouldn't consider myself a sick person but it was very interesting to watch.

I have also seen bass and northern eat ducks and chipmunks/ground squirrels off the top of the water. While it is a very minimal part of their diet I believe they take advantage of a big meal.

And for the record i own a small school of leptobarbus hoevenii around 8 inches and they would look at me crazy if i put a mouse in the tank. But i have no problems if someone else wants to feed it to the fish they have. To each his own.

Temporarily closed for cleanup.

Edit-

soon hock, you're entitled to your opinion, but do try to present it in an intelligent manner. As I cleaned up the poo storm you created, I honestly couldn't even figure out just what the hell you were trying to argue. FWIW, playing 'devils advocate' and arguing for the sake of arguing is also known as 'trolling'.

The next time this gets off kilter I'm closing it. There's been quite a bit of good discussion in this thread so I hate to close it.

For those of you who want to have a discussion without it turning into a poo storm, just ignore any attempts at trolling. I'll delete the posts as I see them.

Thread opened.
