I don't like braided line for some reason it just doesn't feel right to me. no flexibility no fun.i'm not knocking one or the other but it's a totally different feel.

The stretch costs you fish on missed or poor hook sets. You still have all the fun if you don't do what the average person does. Still get the lb test to match the fishing situation. Everyone sees braid and thinks they need 100lb. I use 2-4 lb fire line on trout, panfish and others. I use the 50- 80# on muskie lures and river fishing. The line get put through so much stress from the large lures and or baits I use for each anything less and they snap. Also on the river 80lb + sturgeon or close to flatheads are a real possibility. Not to mention even the chance of a bull shark as they have found them even in mn.

well i don't use mono but, powerpro braided with fluorocarbon leader on all my reels

Im a big fan of power pro aswell! Been using it for a good 10yrs. And i simply love the stuff...i use 20lb on my small rigs, and 50 on my medium/heavy rigs for cats and pike. Agreed there is no "play" in the line but when used on a light action rod u can get the same effect. Y not just use a mono leader like tampabass to get the feel u like?

It is a completely different feel. But there is some superiority to braid than mono. It's life longevity is more because the mono stretches and has memory to the spool it's on. Braid? Not so much, it just get's twisted easily. After every trip I just remove the line and reel it back in like I was relining it.

If you're using 10+ lb mono then yes you do get a good feel on the bass, but with a bigger bass or an awkward landing spot you risk line breaks. Braid is also a better choice for me in florida with all the vegetation (specifically lillies) that we have here. Mono will not cut through a lily. Braid will.
