Im looking for a 240 gallon aquarium to move two peacock bass and a tiger Oscar into whenever they outgrow their 125 gallon. I know these tanks are expensive and are made to order but I’m looking for one on the cheaper side. Do y’all have any places you would recommend to buy a 240 gallon tank?

You can check the Buy and Sell forum to see who might have what you are looking for in your state or location.

Plywood aquarium? You could save some money going that route.

You can try fishtanksdirect.com. Even if you're getting a tank second hand it can be hard to get a good deal. A new tank is going to set you back pretty good. Fishtankdirect has both custom acrylic aquariums and complete glass aquariums(premade). Glass aquariums are cheaper then acrylic and assembled premade tanks are also usually cheaper. Here's a link to a new 265 gallon aquarium for around $2,000 but that's just the tank. https://www.fishtanksdirect.com/marineland-tank-black-85lx24wx30h-265gal.aspx

If you're looking at buying new inquire at your local LFS, they may be able to order you something for a decent price.

This will probably work out best if it's a common size and brand.

A Marineland 265 with corner overflows stickers for $2,299 and a 220 without overflows for $1,099 at one of my LFSs. Those are sticker prices on the tanks, if you talk to the manager you may be able to score a discount if you're a well known customer or purchase more than just the tank.

Craigslist, might check large reef forums as well as MFK
Local aquarium clubs would be one of the first places I would check as well. Not sure about NC im sure there must be something, in NJ we have NJAS which has a forum and has meetings/auctions often. Members of your local club might have something.
