White head looking zit bumps on fins?

I know random treatments are not good...thats why I have not treated until I can narrow down what it is. I do weekly water changes so the water is good. The spots never go away tho. I just dont know what it is....but would like to get rid of it if possible.

Sounds like lympho to me. It has become more and more common lately in the trade from what I've seen. Basically, it's usually not a huge deal health wise, but it is contagious (I believe it's a virus and I don't know of any treatments) and creates those unsightly bumps. Usually the fish fights off the infection after a month or two, but often the bumps will remain and must be removed surgically (read: sterilized razor blade for us DIY types).
I believe I read somewhere up to 70% of fish in the hobby have been exposed to it... A lot of the time they just won't show symptoms. Maybe someone on here with more knowledge on it can give a more scientific explanation.

I did not see it mentioned here, so I'll do it. My angel fish got some of these bumps on the rays of their fins. I watched them for months. They looked sort of like ich but never spread and there were no other ich symptoms. The bumps show up from time to time especially on my male veil tail. At the time, the angels were the only two cichlids that would have altercations, they are a breeding pair. I was told on another forum that if it is on the ray of the fin it could be a calcium deposit from a fight or an injury. No treatment just really clean water and good maintenance practices. Some fade over a long time and some don't. I had heard this was very common with cichlids. Is that not true?

I had thought about lymph but to me I thought it was usually on the edges of the fins and not just on the rays?

The deposits from fights kinda makes sense...

Every time my fish get sick I can trace it back to some boneheaded decision I made. Usually the a conscious decision to not quarantine a new fish is the cause of my woe. Kinda like bringing a girl home from the club and not using a condom...... You get what you get and try not to regret.
I think the best first step to handling an illness is to get crazy with your waterchanges. 100% every two days is not too much as long as you can protect your bacteria colony from dying off. I've found that this alone can get your fish strong enough to wage I partial comeback on their own.
Regarding salt, I've read that salt can hinder the recovery of damaged tissue. Is this true?

Ive had these same spots appear from time to time on my freddy. Not real sure what it is(was) but I elevated the tank temp added salt and they all went away. I thought at first it might have been ich, but the first one's showed up in with her in qt and stayed there for almost a month, never getting worse. Fed her some medicated food and ran a parasite med and it stayed the same.

Heat and salt did the trick for me whatever it was....

Some of my CA and SA cichlids have small bumps on the rays only (about the size of a pin head and the same color as the fin), nothing on the body or tissue between the rays, and it's always tissue that's been damaged previously. I've not treated with anything since I'm not sure what is it and the fish don't seem adversely affected. Also, my non-cichlids in that tank don't have any bumps, nor do the fish who haven't gotten their fins torn. Hopefully its not lympho, seems I need to do some reading up on it.

I have some of these tiny bumps on some of my wild caught Geo's and also thought is was Ick for a while and even tried the salt/raising temp thing. I have pretty much left it alone and it only on the Wild caught fish which is kind of strange to me. I beleive it is some type of parasite/fluke.

Well, i think there has been a little bit of improvement. I have continued with weekly water changes and adding aquarium salt with each change. I think the bumps on my midas are gone, however one of my Gt's still has a little bump in his tail, my big salvini has what looks like some whiteheads still at the base of his tail, and my texas has maybe one or two little whitish bumps yet on his pectoral fin. They seem to be doing fine yet, no real hunger loss, in fact they seem to be eating better than they use to. That's my update. Still not too sure where else to go with it.
