White lip

Noticed two of my cichlids with white marks around there lips I think it may be from fighting what do u guys think?

The demisoni looks like it got bitten on the lip. The one on the rusty orange doesn't look like from a fight though, maybe natural?

Fighting or running into glass or decorations.

I say fighting. My rusty cichlid I formerly owned fought every single day and his mouth looked like that.

I looked up the other day and noticed it so like 2 or 3 days now. The desmoni bullies my smaller fish since and the rusty is a female maybe they were fighting each other.

Most likely its from fighting.

In nature you see this all the time, cichlids lock lips to vie for dominance, test for mate choice etc.
Below are Jack Dempseys from a cenote in Mexico. Almost all males had lip scars, and slight fungal infections on the lips .

My Lepidiolamprologus pair constantly test each other, and their teeth do noticeable damage.

Yea I've seen em lip lock,
This is jus the first time seeing the bite marks.
