White "pimples" on my heterospila?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It looks like lymph to me too, newly shipped and added fish seem most susceptible.
Since it is viral, there aren't any effective medications.
My case came in after some V. breidhori were shipped.
With lots of water changes, and after settling in, the fishes immune system fought it off, and the case quickly went away.
It is ubiquitous.
…and that is more or less the same as I posted earlier. Only it was not believed.

Because none of what YOU said, matched up. So I pointed out that what YOU told me, didn't match what I was experiencing. Not to mention, telling me "I don't actually know what it is" doesn't allow me to do any research to learn about it, now does it?

I have seen that before. Like pimples that last a few days, disappear or fall off?, reappear in another place or fish. I don’t know what it is, but it seems to be only mildly contagious. Some sort of dormant stage in substratum and they are there but don’t manifest all the time. Miss a water change, or come back from travel and they might be there.

Has not lasted a few days - has lasted a couple weeks. Have not disappeared or fallen off, just been better or worse
Did not reappear in another place, nor another fish
Have not missed a water change (this tank gets 75% weekly)
Did not come back from an absence

I’ve had a case of this before some years ago with some friedrichsthalii i purchased. Eventually cleared up but left some scars on the fish. Months later after it looked like it had cleared up i added some other fish to the tank and after a few weeks they broke out with it. I was told the virus stays in the water column and only able to rid it by stripping the tank and basically sanitising everything.
