The past 3 weeks or so, I've noticed an area on the oscar's head that was turning white, like the scales have fallen off. It started off very small and is now the size of a dime. The other side of the head was fine until now; there is also another white spot that's starting to form. Can anyone explain what that is and how to treat it? I've already tried metronidazole since I thought it was hole in the head, but that doesn't seem to be it. Thanks.

HITH

Best treatment
- Clean water
- A healthy diet

If all else fails, Melafix

The poor diet makes sense. My oscar has been eating dried shrimp for more than half a year, and now that we've run out of shrimp, we tried feeding it pellets, but it doesn't seem to want to eat it. It'll eat about 5 pellets at most and spit the rest out. How do I get it to start eating the pellets?

It's rather easy to clear HITH. Basic tank maintenance, healthy/very diet, temp at about 82-86ºF and salt. Pretty simple.

An Oscar refusing food???? :WHOA:

Thats a new one on me , mine will eat anything and everything all day long. If you drop it in the tank it will try and eat it. It must be ill, definately sounds like HITH. Lots of different treatments, pay your money and take your choice. Good luck hope Oscar gets well soon.
