He is adorable!
I'm sure he will look nothing like that as an adult, but he will still make for a wonderful pet:) Nice find!

not 100% sure that what he is . just some Google foo last night and a few old thread on this site seen to point me in that direction. I won't know for sure till he gets bigger . either way I'm happy with the fish I got and he is going to look good with a red/black tiger oscar I want to get.
Best of luck with your new acquisition. Keep us posted, especially if it does turn or to be a astronotus crassipinnis.

quick update. I came from owning tropical fish for a few years and jump into the monster fish when I bought my first oscar in August.

I must saw WOW!. these guys grow like crazy. it's been 2 months and my Oscar went from about an inch or 2 to 4 inches almost 5 it seems . never had a fish grow this fast , I always read that they were fast growing but I never really thought about it till now.

his color has also been changing and he's getting more red on his tail, my second Oscars is turning more black. seems like they change color everyday.

so far I'm very happy going to Oscars . saving up for a 6ft 210g tank for them and my polys.
