Here.
Hello everyone,

Been thinking about adding one or two lately. Seeing as a lot of people with larger tanks have these "bubbler disc" at the bottom of their tanks.

I have a 240G with decent amount of surface aggitation. Can you guys let me know what type of setup you use in terms of extra air. i.e. what type of air pump to power it and the diameter if the disc.

Thanks!

I use an elite 800 in my ray tank attached to a 6 inch airstone. The bubbles come out in heaps and there is tons of water terbulence and my one ray is always swimming through it and hovering above it even as I type this shes going at it.

@Fishdude401 - If it generates bubbles, it counts!

@sinatra - awesome, I think I will have to purchase one....

Any benefits? Besides the obvious added o2 in the water?

The more oxygen the better, on my 125g I've got 3 airpumps working. The fish swim around more and look happier with every new airstone that goes in. With large fish one at each end of the tank works great or one big one near the center.

Don't use airstones. I keep the surface are well agitated which increases
gas exchange, which in turn increases O2.
Plus I have such hard water that it creates a mess on the top of tank and
glass.

I have two bubble disc in my 135 gallon. My rays love them! Their always swimming through them or laying on them. I'd def say get some, not just for oxygen, but for the fun of watching the rays play in them.

I have em running in some of my freshwater tanks. If you have HOB filters then you don't really need them, but some of the fish do enjoy it and if the tank has a heavy stock I like to put them in. I just hate the look of airlines in the tank though. Air pumps are nice and cheap though and good insurance in case your filter goes bad. The surface agitation will keep your fish going for a little bit longer.
