My columbian sharks did this like 4 years ago till i setup a really strong powerhead for them to just "cruise" in
Im gonna try this actually. Thats a really good idea. I got a 300 GPH power head in there but I only plug it in for feeding to keep food off of my hard to put back together rockwork. Maybe they need some current thanks! And thanks for the lookout greenearth

my yellow lab does that i think he just sees his reflection
Fish see through the glass I do not think they see their reflection in it. Anyone back me up on this one? That is what I have always assumed.

I wouldn't treat for ick unless you see some white spots, the fish may just be stressed and the meds will make it stress more... any other signs of illness? what is the temp in the tank? ph? did you test for nitrate and nitrites?

I agree. Mbuna's have a natral tendency to flash. I notice it mostly when another fish is in their territory, it's an alternative to fin flaring.

I think it is normal. Anytime I move fish to a new tank or get new fish, when I first put them in a new environment, they always seem to do this. It does wear off after a while. Give em a couple weeks and they will mellow out. Its just new tank syndrome.

I agree once again. Although when I sometimes add new fish to the tank, the old timers do this as well. Kind of like mimicing the new ones.

Hmm I will cease treatment until I see visual signs of disease I have never heard of this flashing territory thing

Fair enough, That is why I asked. One of the fish did have ich though or flukes. He is in quarantine not looking good.

My fish (my new Africans) About 3 out of the ten of them spend half their time nose rubbing and running around against the glass. My parameters are perfect. There is nothing wrong with their water. Plenty of filtration but it seems there is always a fish nose rubbing and it bugs the hell out of me. This is 8 African cichlids and a poly sen Bichir in a 55 gallon. :)
The Bichir does this as well . They are also all fed very well
Im wondering if the light being on 12 hours stresses them or what? Theres plenty of hiding spots big caves little caves a fake hollow log... This is really irritating:irked:
Thanks all ,
Tcarswell

one of my african cichlid tank do that also when they want water-change,,i am not joking guys, after i do the water-change they stop:D,,,,so funny i wish all my other cichlid tank did the same...
