Also check ammonia and nitrite. These burn the fish's gills, among other things, which might cause them to breathe strangely. This is the first thing I'd check.

Why do fish yawn?

Last night I was lying on the couch watching my tank and I noticed that almost all my fish “yawned” one after the other.
This was about an hour after I fed them so I started to wonder whether feeding them has anything to do with it.

Does any one know the answer?
Why do you yawn? It's the same reason, just a stretch.

I don't know but I hear cichlids "yawn" because they are showing off how big there mouths are to the others, supposedly it has to do with fighting. I'm not to sure but that's what I read somewhere.
