Hey guys, I just found something cool.... Theres a cichlid called: Parachromis Motaguensis.... Lookss like a Dovii but is red orange instead of blue..... Look at the adult, then look at the picture of the fry

That fry has the EXACT orange spots on his anal fin, stomach and gills mine does!! Mine clearly resembles the parachromis dovii more than the motaguensis though.

I had my suspicions it had some other type of fish in it.... now Im thinking he is part Red Tiger.
May be so. It could be one of Mbuna Marcus's Red tiger wolfs. If not I think it will grow into a beautiful female Dovii. Think your just going to have to wait untill it grows into a adult.

You still think its female eh? Even with the rows of black dots on its body like your males? Those spots are coming in more and more each day. They werent there before.

Either way, it shouldnt be much longer. Its 4.25 inches now, growing around an inch per month. Its vent is pretty developed too. So another month and Ill post an update! Either way id be happy

Definitely dovii, I collect motas.

It’s too long and slender to be female mota and it’s fins arent elongated like a males. At around 4-5 inches you can definitely tell on motas.

Just for reference here is Chiapaheros grammodes

male above, female below

some people call them mini-dovii, but they are not, not even in the same genus.
Now Parachromis motaguensus male

female below
same genus as dovii, but they are not, and calling them red wolf is a misnomer.

Looks like dovii I got from Rapps years ago. My male had the red gill coloration and some in the fins and freckling at a smaller size - you can see a bit here on the male (right side). Not the best pic since cell phone cameras sucked back then, but you get the idea :)

Not super abnormal, but it's probably more likely in the more blue colored dovii since the red changes to more of a purple/blue hue as they get larger.
