Sometimes a parasite infection will go into a bacterial infection then you have to treat for both. And I'd use 1tbs of salt per gallon. Up the temp to 82 and try to barely feed. These should help with the healing process.

ok, will up the salt and increase the temp. its hard to get the temp up because we keep the house ~70 and the thermostat is about 12' from the tank. will have to throw another heater in.
the lights are set to stay off for now.
The instructions on the EM say to dose every day with a 25% WC, so I am going to stick to that schedule for 5 days.

I have cut back the amount of food that goes in the tank, but i cant stop feeding completely because im worried one of the healthy hungry bichirs will eat my juvi ornate, sen, or endli.

That sucks about the endlis, but at least you got some store credit back. Hopefully none of the worms transfered to your other polys. About your future kids.... I am pretty sure your girlfriend is going to take care of them because I don't think she intends on working. Just spending your fish budget on dresses, jewelry, and tanning.

Really sorry to hear that.
Thanks bro, and thank you for your thread on polypterus worms. If it wasn't for that thread I wouldnt even have looked at them at prob would never have even had a chance to save them. I will be looking much more closely at new fish from now on. At this point I am not sure if they ever even had parasites, i am thinking that they just had localized hemorrhaging and the wormy looking thinks was their slime coat stringing off.

If there is going to be a silver lining to this story here it is: I went to the LFS where I picked these guys up at and told the owner what had happened. They were both originally trade-ins with no guarantee, and I bought them over three weeks ago (I previously underestimated how long i have had them, receipt was dated 6/22); he still gave me 50% credit for them. I always new they were the best LFS in town but this just reinforces my belief. the store is Jojo Aquarium on Stockton blvd in Sacramento in case anyone wants to know, one of, if not the best, aquarium store I have ever done business with.

And in case anyone is curious here are the post mortem pics:

Yea, she probably would pay more attention to the kids than she does to my fish. And I dont know what dream world she is living in where we can afford all the luxuries she wants, and kids on top of it all.... I am not giving up my fish budget for anything, its too small as is. Plan A is still win the lottery, Plan B is she gets a better job than me and I can be the work from home parent.

Yes, JoJos is the best store in town. We are greeted everytime we go in there, and they always remember us. Excellent customer service, and they always have the best odball fish. I have only been fish keeping for less than 1 year. And in that time JoJos has had every species of legal aro in the USA, 8 species of polys, ATF, odoe, gulper cats, ST-NTT-IT-NGT dats, and so many more amazing fish that I cant even remember.

After the owner told me he would give me credit I was hoping they had that NGT that used to be in the front, but he is gone. I think I am done with buying grow out polys so I am hoping he gets some more big ones in.... or another ST :naughty:
