Don't know why they discontinued the stuff but the Flourite I got just isn't cutting it. Open to new or used but preferably dry. This is the black sand from Caribsea. From 20 - 50lbs. Located in MA but willing to travel and pay for shipping.

I emailed them about this sand. They said the location that they were getting the sand from no longer can produce a quality black product. So until they locate a new location to source the sand from it's unavailable.
I think this was near two years ago now. Luckily I have one of my 125s full of it.
Hunting for an alternative I tried the Imagitarium black sand from Petco. I found it to be more of black crushed rock not so much natural sand, also it's a lot darker in tank compared to Tahitian moon. I warn against it's use with heavy digging bottom feeders like Cory cats. It's pretty sharp and caused 9/10 Cory's to die, they literally ground thier faces off doing their natural foraging.

I also tried Caribsea Black Hawaiian sand for salt water. It's black/dark brown tiny pieces of lava rock, again not actually sand.

thanks for the reply! The Flourite I have is also more of a gray than black and has a high ratio of powder sized granules that make the substrate look messy or “dirty“. I know it’s more meant for plants so I get that but not what I’m going for. I really miss the moon sand and it’s shine and deep black color. Guess I’ll try to be patient with Caribsea and hope for some luck here.
