My mom's snapper gets dog food and canned cat food, blackberries, fresh peaches, tomato, raw and hard-boiled eggs, insects, and the occasional dead rat or mouse.
I'm not sure how much vegetation mud turtles eat, but you can give it a try.
yeah I like how the zoomed is recommended by vets all over the world, but the downside is when my turtle eats them he leaves a mess and the water gets oily.
The reptomin, I tried a pellet today and Cola swallowed it..no mess(so i can probably feed those in the tank) And I don't think there was any oil floating on the top too. Even the guppies were going for them!
Also, haha this is just a rumor in Japan but..
It is said that if you feed floating fish pellets to your turtle, he will start floating around all the time...
But is that scientifically true?

for my western painteds i feed zoomed growth , dried krill, hikari cichlid gold, live aquatic plants, live ghost shirmp, live crayfish, and occasionally guppies from my lil breeding tub or guppies. i used to use reptomin but it seems to make the water merky but hey that might just be me...
My RES has been eating floating pellets as a staple (Wardley and Tetra brand) for 15 years, he hasen't started floating yet.
Mine also gets a variety of frozen foods, fish pellets, freeze dried inverts, live food and fresh veggies. Mine loves the "San Francisco Bay" Frozen Aquatic Turtle Diet.
mine love anacharis, radican, and waterlettuce, sometimesthey get water sprite but its messy... i feed mine raw thawed out bait shrimp on occasion its uncooked...
