Anyone know of any conservation organizations working to preserve Madagascar's waterways so that the fish aren't endangered / extinct in the first place?

They have a National Environmental Protection Plan in place. As to how much effect this is having I don't know. Will read up more on it later.

Wow, I'm quite amazed how much attention this has got, just bumping it up for the very slim chance an MFKer has a girl.

There are pics of groups of this species on several european fish sites (mostly Germany). Hopefully, these keepers will see this announcement and opt to assist.
