Here is what I'm using presently, The Tripp-Lite 750 APS Inverter that has two large deep cycle batteries hooked up in parallel that will back up my two 150 gallon tanks for several hours. I have only the air connected as I don't anticipate any power down for more than a few hours. At least the air will keep the fish alive in the tanks and keep the bacteria alive in the moving bed filter.

The cool thing is the Inverter automatically kicks over to the batteries in milliseconds if the power goes out and produces AC power. And when the power comes back on it kicks back to the AC grid. And at the same time the system is recharging the batteries. There are also indicator LED lights that indicate the status of the system. You can also switch the system to two other modes like exclusively recharging the batteries, or bypassing the inverter.
