Alright here's an idea Arowana(s) wouldn't be much of a problem if you just don't freak them out. Because that's the only real time they jump,
Bro, that would be pretty much like saying, its okay for us to play with guns as long we just be very careful.

And I saw you were thinging of rays that would be a problem, BUT WHEN FEEDING TIME COMES YOU WILL HAVE TO OVER FEED YOUR FISH ALITTLE SO THAT THEY GET SOME. Useing shrimp works quite well it sinks to the bottom easy, But cut it up in to smaller pieces, because rays don't have the biggest mouths.
I'm pretty much striking Ray's out of my list because I believe there is a danger of its barbs striking my liner.

PLEASE POST ALL THE FISH ALREADY HAVE, THE SIZE & HOW MANY YOU HAVE.

AND ALL THE FISH ON A DIFFERENT POST, THAT YOU ARE THINKING OF GETTING.
Already have:
1. 3 pcs RB Pacu's (9-11")
2. 1 pc CKF (18")
3. 1 pc 2' ID Shark (as pictured) *this is the only one in the pond now, the rest are in 2 separate 100g tanks
4. 1 pc 10" TSN
5. 1 pc 8" RTC (intentionally got a juvy so that I don't have to worry about him until after a year or two)
6. 1 pc 10" Chinese Hi Fin Sucker Fish (which I plan to keep in my tank)

Plan to have:
1. Giant Gourami
2. A couple more ID Sharks, maybe
3. Arapaima (just kiddin')

Bro I swim in my pond & I have never seen one of my rays strike at me or any other fish.

The Arowana will work out just fine i've had tanks with open tops with Arowanas in it & never had a problem just try one out & if you have cover for it to hide under it wil be chill.

And be careful with the PACU, because I also have 3 RB Pacus about 12- 15 inchs & they are always in the mood to eat so you might want to feed them often, because mine kill one of my peacock bass because they were hungry they'll gang up on a fish & pick on it till they get the job done.

Thanks for the heads up on this: I have been powerfeeding my 3 RBP's and they hardly say no. As in I feed them TONs of food at least twice a day and they gobble them up like their more rapacious cousins. I feed them fruits (apples, grapes etc), vegetables, seeds, beef heart, peas, floating pellets, dried tubifex, squash seeds, amapalay seeds, cashew nuts, they just DON'T ever say no!

I had to wrap my pump electrical wire with hard white plastic molding for them not to chew on it, they chew on the pump's flexible pump tube outlet though...

Should I just net them out and fry them? :)

Afterall, I'm in a 3rd world country... :)

count your blessings bro coz at least i dont think we have much restrictions on aquaria life (i dont know of any yet xD )...

am still researching though i really want a 6'x3'x3 aquarium... and am planning on the DIY Algae Turf Filter only filter (sounds good to be true xD )... still earning money and really thinking things over (not yet decided on Arowana vs Bichir... planning to scratch the Snakeheads, though limiting or not, it is still tempting)...

i just got hooked (my bro has 2 20gal tanks i think) and i am the one cleaning and feeding and arranging and i just got interested xD...

any advice for my plans? where to get fish... suggestions... like that would be nice...

oh and more pics!!! xD

Some rock formations (various rocks, broken clay pots, petrified wood etc) with some hidden orange pipes, do you see the pipes? If you would notice, I also put on a layer of my baby's soft cushion mats, just have this obsession of protecting the liners, have to figure out how to hide them better though...any suggestions?

Another area, another formation with a huge monster rock and a big petrified wood slate, also has an orange PVC pipe somewhere in there...

My DIY pump pre-filter

Prefilters are used to protect and help with the longevity of the pump.

  1. Bought a plastic pot with holes at the bottom.
  2. Put in a layer of sponge at the bottom and and then a plastic chicken wire.
  3. Then put in the Rio 20HF Pump (selling in this neck of the woods for a tad bit over $40) and then put in some sponges to its left and right to center it and prevent it from tilting.
  4. Then put in another layer of plastic chicken wire and then attached a last layer of sponge.
The chicken layers are to prevent the sponges from sticking too closely to the pump's strainer which will impede the pump's flow.

Just a temporary arrangement before I get my DIY cabinets and cannisters in place, this helps with the oxygenation of the water.

RIO 20HF moves about a thousand gallons of water when outlet is raised about 4ft.

YES! Free sponge and foams from the office, they were gonna throw it away...

Just chillin'

Checked ammonia yesterday and still reads 0. Seems like I've successfully jump started a cycle in just over a week. :)

What do you guys think should I throw this baby (18") in, its either this or the 3 RBP's:

Stick your Clown Knife & Pacu in your pond they should be just fine. I have my Clown Knife in my pond with my Pacu & they don't bother each other at all, if anything just watch them to see what happens. But your Clown Knife is really big so the Pacu really won't mess around with him.
