How old were your zebras? The cost of them is now averaging about US $300, and don't see any signs of prices droping anytime soon. GL with getting some more, but I think you'd be better off trying something a little easier first.
yea thats what i said, even at 4" they may not be quite ready to spawn. i duno about holding off on the zebras, they are an easy pleco to breed, as far as plecos go. that and dont know how established you are with plecos. i guess its a lot of money to throw though if things dont turn out good. How old were your zebras?
yea well quite. youd choose something that hasnt been bred in home aquaria before. LOSERThey are fairly easy, but they can be pretty picky. Then again I'm also biased, pretty obvious what I want to breed.
The main reason for the prices being so high is they can no longer be inported to the U.S. and an til some one mass breds them and can flood the market. The prices will just keep going up and up. I've seen them sell as breeding pairs for $2,500.00 and some singles go for as much as $450.00 . I have a two females and want to bred them. But finding a single male at a price I can afford is imposable.
I've even afford to let the person who loans me there male have 1/2 the fry free. But so far no ones willing to either trust this or to loan the male out. Whitch you can't blame them cause of them being so costly to replace if something happens in transit. But I'll keep looking til I either find a male I can afford or some one is weling to loan there male out. If you do breed your I'll take a male! Off your hands
The only reason isn't just the stop on exporting, but also that most breeders are greedy, and aren't wanting to let the prices go up. Many are making some good side cash, and don't want to lose that.
