Gar Identification - Post your Gar to be ID'd HERE!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hi Rostratusgar,

i also believe you have a Florida gar. the pattern and build match the farmed Florida gars we see in the hobby most frequently. SNG usually have a different pattern at this stage (although they can look similar), and the likelihood of getting spotted gars out there is very low. IMO (and i believe Richard and i have discussed this as well), SPGs at YOY stages appear to have smaller eyes than FLGs...may try to dig up some pics for comparison, but it's a weird occurrence that is just more or less observation/opinion at this stage--

Thank you friends. Will I be considered a Florida gar. Later I will send new photos. Since the size of which can recognize 100 percent of the Florida gar Spotted gar?

Here is the video for better identification. I consider it as Florida gar as you advised me.

before you all freak this tank and gar are not being kept in CA....so sorryabout the confusion.

I agree with Wiggles, that's a florida gar.

I have a gar that I'm looking for a second opinion on. Here are some older pics of the gar when it was dispaying a darker more contrasting pattern. Usually there is almost no hint of any spots present on the body.

definitely looks like a FLG to me kevin; even if it has minimal pattern now, the morphology stacks up to FLG IMO--
