High City Rida
5 Xingu @ 5''
Food Hikari Jumbo Sticks with Fresh Water VitaChem dripped on them feed daily in the am and then used to gut load feeders. 200 feeders a day fed 4x a day to the Cichla. Not alway's gut loaded and Xingu dont alway's eat when feeders are offered. Usually pick them off through out the day.

Tank 40g breeder.

Two heaters with average temp of 84-86 in these summer months may change in winter. Filtration is a 140 Power Head a hob 330 Pengun and a sponge with two air stones air supplied by an whisper aireator.

Water change schedule is 50% - 75% everyday or every two days depending on my schedule. No matter what I alway's change a large amount of water on all my tanks very offten. I only use prime or water conditioner maybe twice a month or as needed. I use epsom salt a handful on all my tank's often time's more. I do this with 75% of my weekly water changes. Tank has three 9'' pieces of older drift wood and fake plant's for cover and natural enviroment.

Just want to explain to the readers that the purpose of this thread is to document how fish from the same spawn can be affected by the keeper. So we want people who purchased xingus from the Laz or Wes' import to please post. Some general tank conditions and a current pic is what we're going to start with and at the end of one year we would like to compare xingus. Periodically we will post pics to show progress. Already after a month and a half there are noticeable differences.
I hate to say what makes a show quality cichla (or if there is such a thing) because it is subjective. So when Wes asked me to put together some guidelines because I've been involved in koi shows for over 15 years it was hard. I think what may be good judging factors for the cichlas are: Size (overall length), Conformation (girth proportional to length), and color (spangling spots and brightness). We will rely on cichla OG HCR to get the rules hashed out via the discussion forum.
Keep in mind that we are not trying to alter these cichlas to look like Kim Kardashian.
Comments are welcome by all but please no flaming on any one keeper because the data collected will help future keepers.

X-tank may be able to shed some light on wild ones growth and pictures, as they were obtained about 3" size and grew rapidly under his care as well. And for Xingus looking like Kim Kardashian, if you could do that you'd be god in my book, combining fish and women! all fish geeks fantasy!
